The Cloverdale Rodeo and Exhibition Association has re-elected two incumbents and one new member to the Board of Directors at its Annual General Meeting that took place on March 27th. Long serving members Rob Marshall and Gerry Spielmacher were re-elected while longtime volunteer Jenece Stinson was elected for the first time. Marshall, Spielmacher and Stinson will serve a two-year term on the Board of Directors.
During the AGM another longtime volunteer, former Association Treasurer Ken Kachur, who stepped down prior to the AGM, was recognized for over twenty years of dedicated service to the organization. “Ken has been an integral part of our organization for many years,” said President Shannon Claypool. “He was an incredibly active volunteer even acted as interim General Manager in 2010, on a volunteer basis, as the Association transitioned between General Managers. The Board certainly recognizes Ken’s dedication to this Association and event.”
The Association also awarded four long serving volunteers “Lifetime Members” of the Association – Rocky Rockwell, who served as a member of the Board of Directors and held the positions of Rodeo Chair and Volunteer Chair; Florian Kirner volunteered for over two decades, served as a member of the Board of Directors and chaired the Country Fair Committee and Ernie and Charlene Bayer, who also have volunteered for over two decades. All Four were named Lifetime Members of the Association.
“The strength of this Association is largely because of the dedication of our volunteers,” says President Shannon Claypool. “These four long serving members are extremely worthy of this honour.”
The Association has over 500 volunteers and a staff of 11 who work though out the year to plan, stage and execute the annual Rodeo and Country Fair, one of the most beloved and best attended family events in British Columbia.
