We’re sure that St. Patrick would be happy to know that the Cloverdale Legion helped the sponsoring commmittee and officers of the 2277 Seaforth Highlanders Cadets raise funds to help one of their own. Lt. Allyison MacDougall, a single mother, is battling breast cancer.
Although she works three jobs, they are part-time and on contract so she does not have sick leave benefits. To help Lt. MacDougall focus on her health as she undergoes cancer treatments, the cadet corps sold 38 tickets for a St. Patrick’s Day pub night held last Saturday evening. Those who came to the fundraiser as well as all Legion members were invited to support a 50/50 draw, which raised $200 for the MacDougall family, and bid on 40 prizes in a silent auction raffle. The total amount raised is not yet available but it should be several hundred dollars.
Captain Mark Iredale, CO of the 2277 Corps, says: “This was a great event. Thank you so much to the Cloverdale Legion again for their continued support. I think fun was had by all in attendance.” There is an online fundraiser to help Lt. MacDougall as well, which is found here: http://www.gofundme.com/allysmedicalfund
