The Salvation Army thrift store, which has been a Cloverdale institution for 30 years, closed on March 15. This leaves Cloverdale without a thrift store, much to the dismay of pensioners, low income residents, and bargain hunters.
The thrift store occupied the main floor of a building owned by the Salvation Army at 5658 – 176 Street. The second floor offices have been mostly vacant for years, with the only tenant being the Surrey Delta Pro-Life Society.
It is rumoured that the building has been sold, but it has not yet been announced who the new owner is, or what plans they have for the building.
