Coats for Kids

The Greater Vancouver Home Builders Association (GVHBA) is launching its 19th annual Coats for Kids campaign in support of the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau, a group whose many initiatives help to provide a brighter Christmas for families in need.

Last year along with the GVHBA office we had 33 member companies at 46 locations in 13 municipalities serve as coat drop-off sites. This year we would like to double that number! This years Coats for kids will run from November 24 to December 04.

Last year the response to Coats for Kids was heartwarming as Lower Mainland residents donated more than 4,993 coats, scarves, gloves, blankets and new unwrapped toys and gifts for distribution to children, teenagers and adults.

In Cloverdale, dropoff locations are:

  • Foster Park Brokers Inc.
    17679 – 57 Avenue
    Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Hazelmere Fireplace and Mantel
    #1, 5422 – 176 Street
    Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
    Saturday, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Cloverdale & District Chamber of Commerce and the Vancouver Board of Trade announce CDCC intent to unite with VBOT

The Cloverdale & District Chamber of Commerce (“CDCC”) is pleased to announce that following CDCC’s discussions over the past few months, its board of directors has voted in favour of formally engaging the Vancouver Board of Trade (“VBOT”) to reach agreement on uniting the two organizations.

CDCC President Brian Young, also the Chief Operating Officer of Surrey and Delta Golf Clubs, is one of the early champions of studying a more strategic relationship that will benefit Cloverdale Chamber members. “The Vancouver Board of Trade is the quintessential business association in The Lower Mainland. They stand alone in all of Canada for their unique professional development and networking programs, their blended policy development approach, and their robust events lineup”, he said. “In addition, our future relationship between the Cloverdale & District Chamber of Commerce and The Vancouver Board of Trade will immediately deliver a much higher value, and broader mix, of financial benefits to our Members than we can offer on our own.”

The next steps involve working groups from both the CDCC and the VBOT reaching agreement on definitive terms of reference, and then presenting the result to Cloverdale Members for a vote at the October 2014 AGM.

Key priorities for both organizations include securing the significantly higher VBOT Membership value for CDCC Members, while at the same time ensuring a continued, engaged local presence in Cloverdale, including Member events and informed community/municipal advocacy efforts.

“We are delighted at the Cloverdale Chamber Board decision”, said Janet Austin, The Vancouver Board of Trade 2014-15 Board Chair. “We look forward to collaborating with the working group of the Cloverdale board to develop a stronger voice for business that will meaningfully benefit the Members of both organizations.”

Cloverdale Members interested in learning more about these discussions and the working group can contact Brian Young at 604-830-4007. Preliminary information in the form of an FAQ will be sent via email directly to CDCC Members.
