Mary Birchnall of the Ladies Auxiliary presented a cheque for $500 to Poppy Chairperson Pat Keeping at the branch general meeting on December 14. Movember CompetitionNovember 30, 2011![]() Members of the Cloverdale RCMP detachment grew moustaches during November as part of the "Movember" campaign to raise awareness of men's health issues. Here are the finalists in the competition: from the left, Staff Sgt. Shirley Steele, Cst. Jeff McMichael, Cst. Jean Bissonnette, Special Cst. Rocky Prakash, and Cst. Albert Luk. The event, held in our branch, raised $1,055 which went to the wife of a Surrey detachment member who is undergoing cancer treatments in Singapore that are not available in Canada and cost $20,000 each. Michelle writes in a note: "Thank you for the opportunity to present our cheque of $155.54 donated by Surrey Pre Trial offenders population for Poppies they made in Arts & Crafts within our Centre. More photos LA Planter PresentationJune 21, 2011![]() The Ladies Auxiliary presented a planter to the City of Surrey to commemorate the 85th Anniversary of the Canadian Legion. Shown are Councillor Linda Hepner representing the City of Surrey; Cde. Bernice Lewis making the presentation on behalf of the LA; and the combined LA and Branch colour parties. The plaque reads "This planter was presented on June 21, 2011 to the City of Surrey by the Ladies Auxiliary Cloverdale No. 6 of the Royal Canadian Legion BC/Yukon Command in honour of the Legion's 85th Anniversary". More rodeo weekend photos Candlelight TributeMay 7, 2011![]() The annual Candlelight Tribute commemorating the 66th Anniversay of V.E. Day was helpd at Victory Memorial Park Cemetery. After a commemorative ceremony and laying of wreaths, lighted candles were placed on the graves of all war veterans buried in the cemetery. More photos Battle of the Atlantic Memorial ServiceMay 1, 2011![]() The Branch 6 Colour Party took part in the Battle of the Atlantic ceremony presented by the #307 Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps "Mariner". In a moving part of the ceremony, the names of ships sunk in the battle are read out, a bell is rung, and a cadet announces "They do not answer". Representatives of the City of Surrey, the Royal Canadian Legion, the RCMP and others placed flowers on the cenotaph. After the service, the parade marched back to the Branch, where the cadets were treated to hot dogs and pop.
